UPCOMING
Run-A-Thon: Our final fundraiser will begin next week and last about a week. It is quick and painless. Runners will receive info next week. The money we earn goes towards ROW t-shirts, spirit awards, end of season gifts, practice busses (we have to pay for the driver), food, equipment (pace watches), etc. We couldn’t do all of this important stuff without fundraising, so thanks for your help.

AWARDS
Runner of Week: This past week Caroline Snell and John Starke, both captains, were named Runner of the Week. They have done an awesome job leading our team since the season began. From organizing team bonding/boot camp practice, to tie-dyeing t-shirt parties, to laser tag, they have been instrumental in uniting the team and creating a fun atmosphere. We have also seen them encouraging and helping new runners understand what they need to do.
Spirit Award: Nate LaPuma and Shelby Stewardson were nominated by the captains.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bulldog Card Recap: We had a very successful sale, thanks to everyone’s help. We earned about $1500 for the team! A HUGE THANK YOU goes to our parents who drove kids around—Marsha Doescher, Ruth Taylor, Michael Sabino, Brenda Jochems, Dennis Guertin, Matt Mattson, Linda Ryerse, Vicki Galer, Steve Cawi, Don Fox, and Megan’s Grandpa

Busses: the Superintendent has just issued a rule that we may NOT eat or drink on busses (other than drinking water). We may still bring food on the bus (in closed bags), but none may be consumed while riding.

Miller, Jochems, Cawi, Starke, Snyder, Brodie, Galer (I will send instructions as we get closer. I may have left one person on who said they can no longer help—please let me know.) Both boys and girls will run together at 5pm.

LESSON FOR THE WEEK
Nutrition: Coach Henze conducted a nutrition seminar early this week. We talked a lot about what types and amounts of food/drink will help runners to perform at their best. Please check out the handout on our website before your next grocery shopping tripJ

New website: The Stone Bridge Athletic Department is pleased to announce our new website: www.stonebridgesports.org      Please visit the site for current schedules, team pictures, the latest game scores and even directions to game locations. The new website has been a collaborative effort to bring the Athletic Department and the Booster Club together to form one comprehensive web site and we are pleased to now be able to offer one stop for all things involving SBHS Athletics.
When you go to the site, click on “Cross Country” on the right. On our site, you can view the schedule, rosters, results, and pictures. Please be patient as we work to upload info. To access forms/handouts we have given to runners (like the nutrition, form, and racing seminar notes), go to the “forms” tab. Under the “news” tab you will find these parent emails and any important notices (like weather announcements, etc).

Awards
Congratulations to Taylor Steggerda, Alison Cuevas, Brandon Alness, and Brady Guertin who have received the Runner of the Week Awards for the first 2 weeks of practice. For this past week, Eric Cawi earned Runner of the Week for the boys. As captain, he has been doing a great job leading the team, instilling spirit, and working everyone’s abs! For the girls, Megan Snyder has been working hard to create a lead pack of varsity girls. She always gives 100% effort, and, in fact, she was just named as a member of the USA team for the junior World Championships in karate. Congratulations to them both. For the first 2 weeks the spirit awards winners were Nico Robles, Ryan Pedroni, Amanda Ryerse, and Kelly Miller. This past week, the captains named Melissa McCutchan and Bruce Liberi as Spirit Award winners.
