The Stone Bridge boys soccer team hosted the Marshall Statesmen on Thursday night, which was Senior Night for the Bulldogs, and saw both teams battle to a 0-0 tie. It was a very intense game seeing both teams creating scoring opportunities to score only to see both keepers coming up with key saves to keep clean sheets for each respective team.
Senior goalkeeper Gene Yim was outstanding in goal coming up with 12 saves on the night. The Bulldogs back four also contributed in holding the Statesmen at bay and the midfield and forwards created 15 shots on goal several of which were close finding the back of the net. In addition the team fielded a health team for the first time in several weeks which helped contribute to the quality of play for the Bulldogs.
With the tie the team now stands at 3-7-3 on the season and 0-4-2 in Liberty District play. The Bulldogs will conclude their regular season next Wednesday when they travel to Thomas Jefferson HS. The JV will kick off at 5:30 and the Varsity at 7 PM.
