The Stone Bridge Bulldogs soccer team traveled to Madison on Thursday night in a key Liberty District game dropping a tough game to the Warhawks by a score of 2-1. Senior back Garrett Nekic got the Bulldogs on the board first by taking a long throw-in that the Madison Keeper misplayed into the goal 12 minutes into the game giving the Bulldogs the early lead. Madison fought back and with less than two minutes to go in the half tied the score.
Madison earned the go ahead goal with just under 12 minutes to play and then held on as the Bulldogs worked for four corner kicks and several throw-ins deep in the Warhawk defending end of the field in the final two minutes but could not break through for the equalizer.
With the loss the team drops to 2-5-1 and 0-2 in Liberty District play. The boys resume play next Wednesday when they host Fairfax. The JV kicks off at 5:30 and the Varsity at 7 PM.
